Camper van on Cow Bay Beach near Cape Tribulation, Daintree, Queensland Australia

Cow Bay Beach is one of the southernmost beaches on the road to Cape Tribulation in the Daintree rainforest. It was a lot quieter than the others as it’s at the end of a dead end road off the main road. Around 15km from the Daintree ferry, it’s well worth a stop on the way to or from Cape Tribulation.

Salt Water Crocodiles

Salt Water Crocodiles are present in this area so do be careful. Don’t go in the water of course, and don’t get near the waters edge. Make sure you don’t tempt them with any sign of fish or other food waste. There are signs in some places about the dangers of salt water crocodiles, but that definitely doesn’t mean that places without signs are safe. If you’re walking with a dog then this of course applies to them as well. See http://douglas.qld.gov.au/croc-wise/ for advice.

Where the rainforest meets the reef

This is a phrase you’ll see a lot of when in the Cape Tribulation area. It’s an interesting observation, as it is the only place on the planet where two world heritage sites are found intertwined. In some areas the roots of the trees of the Daintree Rainforest grow through the rocks at the shoreline of the Great Barrier Reef, binding these two amazing environments together.
